About the Gantry type machining center
A gantry-type machining center is a type of NC machine tool ‘machining center.’ These machines are typically large and are characterized by a ‘gate’ shape structure that supports the spindle.
This design allows for the support of large and heavy workpieces, making it suitable for machining large parts and precision machining. With movements along the X, Y, and Z axes and tool rotation, it can process various shapes.
There are mainly three types: the fixed cross-rail type, where the spindle moves up and down, left and right, and the table moves back and forth; the moving cross-rail type, which includes the movements of the fixed cross-rail type but also allows the rail supporting the spindle to move up and down; and the gantry type, which includes the movements of the fixed cross-rail type but also allows the gate itself that supports the spindle to move back and forth.
